Add-on service

LoRaWAN — extended coverage in areas without mobile network.

LoRaWAN is a wireless network technology that can supplement the mobile network in areas with weak or missing coverage. The solution is built on a dedicated base station that communicates directly with the Radiobells in a defined area. The service is offered on an agreement basis and is primarily aimed at larger grazing groups.

!
Important to know

Note: LoRaWAN is not a complete alternative to mobile networks, and use must be agreed with Telespor for best results.

How it works

A dedicated network for your grazing area.

The Radiobells send data to a base station within range. The base station forwards the information to Telespor's servers, so data becomes available in the user portal the same way as with the regular mobile network.

Step 1
Radiobell
Sends position and status data wirelessly.
Step 2
Base station
Receives signals and sends data onward via internet.
Step 3
User portal
Positions and alerts display as normal.
Who is it for?

Larger grazing groups in areas with weak mobile coverage.

LoRaWAN is especially suited for larger grazing groups and customers with extensive grazing areas. The solution is agreement-based, and we evaluate each area individually to ensure the setup provides the best possible value for you.

Terms

Terms when purchasing Radiobells with LoRaWAN license.

LoRaWAN is offered as an agreement-based solution. The following terms apply when purchasing Radiobells including a LoRaWAN license:

  1. 01

    Minimum 150 units

When using 150 or more Radiobells including a LoRaWAN license, we can consider setting up a base station if it is appropriate and geographically possible.

  2. 02

    Multiple base stations

If multiple bases are needed, we follow a separate matrix by agreement. Dimensioning depends on the number of units, the size of the area, and topography.

  3. 03

    Responsibility for supervision and maintenance

You or the grazing group are responsible for supervision and maintenance of the base station during the operational period.

  4. 04

    Ownership

Telespor owns the base station and the network. The grazing group receives usage rights through the LoRaWAN license.

  5. 05

Spare parts in case of defects

Telespor provides free delivery of spare parts in case of defects, unless the user is responsible for the damage.

How to get started

Prepare this before getting in touch.

For us to evaluate whether LoRaWAN is the right solution, we need some details about the grazing area and your needs.

Preparation 01

Have a map ready

A map of your grazing area helps us evaluate topography and base station placement.

Preparation 02

Mark priority areas

Point out which parts of the area are most important to cover — typically where the animals spend the most time.

Preparation 03

State the number of collars

How many Radiobells you plan to use with LoRaWAN in the area.
